Does anyone have a tall mom and short dad?
Just wondering if anyone has a tall mother and a short father. My wife is 5'11-6'0 and I'm 5'7. We are expecting a son in December so this is something I've been wondering.

Yes, there's a good chance your son will grow up to be tall. You never know with genetics though, as it's pretty random and not even an expert in genetics & hereditary biology can "predict" a person's height. But yeah, chances are your son will outgrow you by the age of 15.

Both of my parents are about 5'8" while I'm 6'6" so I can confirm its pretty random

My dad is 5'7, my mom is 5'9. I'm 5'11 (female) and have two brothers who are 6'4 and 5'6. Genetics are weird.

Is your brother 5'6 fully grown? Not trying to be obsessive but I'd rather my son not go through being short. It can be difficult at times. My wife thinks it's dumb to worry about but she's a good woman with a good heart. I know that a lot of women won't give a short guy a shot

Your son will become taller than his mom, from common observations of this type of couple.

I have a male friend who's dad is 5'7 and mom is 5'9. He's 6'2. Grandpa on his mom's side was tall.

Both my parents are tall, but my mother is taller than my father. Of the few people I know personally who are over 7 feet tall, this is also the case; mother taller than the father. My parents are 6'5 and 6'3, respectively.

I can vouch for this, mother is 6'1 and a half, father is just over 6 feet tall, I definitely got my height from my mother's side of the family

Your mum is above average, if she is one of the shorter ones in a tall family most likely from that.

My dad is pretty short at 5'8 my mom pretty tall at 5'8. I got her genetics and I am 6'1 (male)

A pediatrician once said, "Testosterone ads an average of 7" of height during puberty. For boys, add 7" to the mom's height and then average that number with the dad. You have a 90% chance of being within an inch of that height. For girls, subtract 7" from the dad's height, and then average that number with the mom's height."

Not even close with me. Mom's 5'6", Dad's 6'4" and I'm a girl at just over 6'. My husband is 5'11.5" and my son just turned 14 and is 6'1.5" so I don't think it'll work for him either!
Then you have my grandpa who was 6'2", his only son (my uncle) is 5'8" and his son is 6'3". 🤷🏻♀️

Hmm. Mom's 5'7", so that becomes 6'2". Dad's not quite 5'11", so the average is 6'0", maybe plus a half. I'm 6'2", so, yeah, pretty close.

Whoa, my dad is 6'2 and my mom is 5'11. Comes out to 5'9 which is exactly my height! How interesting.

All of my cousins on my mom's side of the family are tall. My tallest aunt is 5'11", her husband is 5'8". Their two sons are over 6'5".

my mom is 5'11 and dad is 6ft, im 6'6". Other family members heights prob play into it, both my grandfathers are 6'3". I am 6'6" my wife is 5'4" my son was 7.7lbs 20 inches at birth, currently 11 months old in 99th percentile for height and 90th for weight.

Yep, my mom is 6'2" dad is 5'7". I'm 6'4" and all my siblings are over 6'.

I have a friend with a tall mom and a short dad, the mom told me she asked everyone she knew how tall their sons were and the general outcome is sons are as tall or taller than mom.
